B1 Level German Language Learning Syllabus
(CEFR Framework) (120 Hours)
The B1 level focuses on improving fluency and accuracy in spoken and written communication. It enables learners to handle everyday situations independently and express opinions with greater confidence.
1. Communication & Conversation Skills
- Expressing opinions, feelings, and preferences
- Discussing past events and future plans
- Describing experiences, ambitions, and personal goals
- Handling common travel and workplace interactions
- Giving advice and making polite requests
2. Grammar Topics
- Verb Tenses:
- Present Perfect (Perfekt) vs. Simple Past (Präteritum)
- Past Perfect (Plusquamperfekt) – "Ich hatte es schon gemacht"
- Future tense (Futur I) – "Ich werde nach Deutschland reisen"
- Conditional (Konjunktiv II) – "Ich würde gern Deutsch lernen"
- Sentence Structure:
- Subordinate clauses with weil, dass, wenn, obwohl, damit
- Relative clauses (der, die, das)
- Infinitive constructions with "zu" – "Es ist wichtig, Deutsch zu lernen"
- Adjective Declension:
- Adjectives before nouns (ein schöner Tag, eine gute Idee)
- Passive voice:
- "Das Auto wird repariert" (Present)
- "Das Auto wurde repariert" (Past)

- Making and responding to complaints
- Participating in job interviews
- Writing formal emails and letters
- Understanding and discussing news articles
- Talking about health and well-being
4. Writing & Reading Skills
- Writing structured texts (opinions, reports, short essays)
- Understanding longer articles, emails, and advertisements

5. Listening & Pronunciation Practice
- Understanding native speakers at a moderate pace
- Recognizing formal vs. informal speech
- Improving pronunciation and intonation
6. Cultural Aspects
- German workplace culture and etiquette
- Common social norms and traditions
- Introduction to German literature and media
